HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS

You are Awesome and we want you to know how proud we are you are part of our church family. We are always there to support you in prayer and in your spiritual development as you navigate through life. We know how expensive College can be, so we also want to help as you further your education.

The Scholarship Committee of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church is pleased to announce the availability of applications for the Linda Hair Scholarship to be awarded to two graduating High School Seniors and the Carolyn Belding Scholarship to be awarded to two enrolled college students.

Below are the criteria to qualify for consideration:

  • Current membership at Lewis Memorial UMC

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 Scale

  • Proof of acceptance or enrollment at an accredited University, College or Technical School

  • Completed Application

  • Recommendation from a Faculty Member or Education Representative who can comment on your scholastic achievement or potential. (To be submitted directly by the recommender, using the form provided.)

  •  Short Essay (Maximum 250 Words) answering the following question: What role did the ministries at Lewis Memorial play in your spiritual development?

Applicants should submit a completed application, proof of current GPA, proof of acceptance, and essay as one packet to Lewis Memorial UMC by April 30th.. Mail the packet to Lewis Memorial UMC Attn:  Scholarship Committee, 5555 Hereford Farm Rd.; Evans, GA 30809.    The recommender should return the scholastic recommendation directly to the Church using the address provided on the form, and should be received by April 30th.  

Recipients will be named by a review panel established by the Scholarship Committee and will be based on:

  • Academic merit

  • Strength of recommendation

  • Content and quality of essay response.

The recipients will be awarded at the morning worship service at Lewis Memorial UMC on Graduation Sunday each year.
